M.B

Trip to M.B

It was 3D2N visit to M.B. on 17-19 April 2015. It’s a dry season in Sabah since March 2015. I think this is one of the reasons we encountered less insects to photograph. I’m not saying that M.B got less bugs all the time. As I mentioned earlier, it’s a dry season since March. I informed that one of my friend encountered many insects here including a very rare species of Lantern bug. By the way, I also post other findings which is not related to insect here.

We went to M.B by our own transport. Two Landcruiser 80series and we drove from Kota Kinabalu to M.B.

A few finding for that very limited time to explore:

Cockroach

Found 7 Oct. 2017. Posted 15 May 2018

A very reflective Pill Cockroach (Perisphaerus sp.) we found at night. Found 24 Feb. 2018. Posted 27 Feb. 2018. When spoked, it rolled up itself (conglobulate). I went through some reading and found that only female has this ability. Meanwhile Males are winged. I read it from here: https://beetlesinthebush.wordpress.com/2012/05/27/holy-conglobulation-batman/

So, another trip 😉 . Really enjoy the natures. Birds singing, butterflies on the river side, got river stream, got real “black night” 😉 , waterfall, Rafflesia, welcoming by villagers. It’s a wonderful experience ;). Scroll down for the story. I’ll let the pictures tell everything ;). Please note that all photos inclusive of 4th trips.

Cyrtodactylus sp. Cyrtodactylus baluensis? Some information saying that C. baluensis is endemic to Mount Kinabalu. So not sure if this Gecko is C. baluensis because it was found at Tambunan. The size is small compared to the C. baluensis we found at Mount Kinabalu.

Thanks to the land owner for allowing us to enter his land. We have to get a permission first from the land owner (as always) and for that, I should thanks to Mr. Ron Eldie for these arrangements. Off course, Mr.Simon Shim is always there 😉 . So.. that was our 6th trips to this area so far (our recent trips was on 12/4/2015). I guess more trips coming soon 😉 . Sorry for my bad English. I got a bite from this Hyllus sp? Its sting can last for about 5 minutes. That bite should be used by this Salticidae to immobilise its prey.. (I'm guessing) . I think spider did not bite human, except you made a sudden contact?. Please note, he lost two of his front legs.
