Trictenomidae, Trictenotoma thomsoni. Deyrolle (1875).

Posted 1 Feb. 2020. Found 28 Dec. 2019. Keningau. The basic color of this beetle is black. The body is slightly flattened, and it is covered with thick greyish-yellow hairs. Beware of it powerful mandible. Underside is grey in color. Found this during daytime in an area where rubber trees are cut down. Looks very similar to Long Horned Beetle to me.  I discovered minor damaged on it right wing as seen in my photo.

Small Jumping Spider having it lunch found at Marabahai Homestay, Kundasang. We stayed here and found this little spider on flower tree just in-front of the house.

Stick Insect. Taken using non-macro lens, Canon EF24mm. This is how I found it on leaf during night time. Surprisingly, I love the green leaf rather than the stick insect itself.

Weevil. We found it always on the same plant which I believed could be it’s hos-plant.
L. montanum. This is how it posed so naturally (In hunting mood?). Basically when being approached, it will level it body flatted to the ground. I observed this behaviors and I found few ants in front of it.

Calamaria schmidti (Schmidt’s Reed Snake).  Thanks to the Kinabalu Park’s Ranger who found it. Our first snake.
This Calamaria schmidti (Schmidt’s Reed Snake) was our 2nd encountered during that night. Actually, our group found Sabah Mountane Slender Slug Snake (Asthenodipsas jamilinaisi) but only 2 of my friend managed to shot it. See my post on snake here

This is my 2nd encountered of this species. Relatively small in size compare to Pseudochalcothea spathulifera. My first encountered was in Tambunan and to me this is rarely seen
